What a wonderful evening we had for our Family Christmas Twilight Picnic.  Each grade made a fantastic recycled scarecrow which are now in the garden.  David Westlake, the Sustainability and Education officer from the City of Casey was our guest judge.  The winning grades were 2S and 3K.  The People’s Choice Award voted by families who attended the evening was 3M’s scarecrow.  The scarecrows all look fantastic in the garden! Thanks to Bunnings Fountain Gate for generously donating each child in the winning grades a native seedling which they can plant at home.

On Friday 11th December from 4pm – 6.30pm we will be holding our school Family Twilight Christmas Picnic.  Come and enjoy our celebration of the school year and wander through the school garden.  Each grade has worked very hard to make a recycled scarecrow for the garden.  Come and vote for your favourite in the “People’s Choice Award”.  A BIG THANK YOU to Bunnings Fountain Gate who have donated our prizes this year.  David Westlake, the Sustainability officer from the City of Casey is our guest judge.  The scarecrows look amazing and are a wonderful addition to our garden.  Just a few to start with… there are more to come! Who will be judged as the best from Prep to Grade 2 and Grade 3 to Grade 6?  We will find out at our Monday morning assembly. Good luck to every grade, I think they are all winners!!

Thank you to all of the wonderful helpers who came and assisted at our last working bee for the year.  It was great to see new faces and work within the garden.  We achieved a lot in only an hour.  Thank you to all the families who have supported the garden during the year!

What a fantastic day we had visiting the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens with members of the school garden club.  We had 47 very excited students attend the day.  We learnt about being ‘water wise’ and planting plants that are drought tolerant, how to make a worm farm and harvest the worm castings, planted a golden button plant and learnt about how mulch can keep the moisture in the ground.  We explored all of the Australian garden area and looked at the different plants growing.  Thank you to the wonderful parents who came on the day to help – Andy Coupar, Kim A’Vard, Karen Sinclair, Traceye Kenna, Sarah Richardson and two teachers, Laura Cooper and Sandra McCrum.  We had a wonderful day and loved splashing in the water at the end!
